What is Thermal Reconditioning and Rebonding, a.k.a Japanese Hair Straightening?
Thermal Reconditioning and Rebonding (a.k.a. Japanese Hair Straightening ) was first developed in Japan and spread to other parts of Asia, before becoming popular in the United States.
Japanese Straightening takes three to four hours, whereby your frizzy hair is straightened. At the chemistry level, “cystine bonds” that hold the curl or wave pattern are broken up. Immediate treatment with a straightening iron permanently rebonds the hair. As a result the hair then becomes straight.
The Japanese Straightening treatment will last anywhere from three to six hours, depending on the individual’s hair type.
As compared to other hair straightening techniques, the effects of Japanese straightening last up to six months, when the hair starts growing out again.
Touch-ups are required every six months following an initial treatment.
