2017 Nail Trends to Try This Summer
Metallic Ombré
The gradient trend may be fading away from hair, it’s just getting started on nails. Zero + Maria Cornejo and Milly brushed on a shimmery silver over a clear base, while Michael Costello used a deep burgundy on top of a glittery gold.
Asymmetrical French Manicure
The nail art seen at Marissa Webb and Cushnie et Ochs isn’t your hometown hairdresser’s French Mani. Instead of having white line the tops of your nails, the snowy shade cuts across a beige base diagonally.
Millennial Pink
You aren’t the only one obsessed with the unapologetically feminine shade. Millennial pink got the high-fashion seal of approval at Naeem Khan, Adam Selman, Lela Rose, and Reem Acra.
Cuticle Jewelry
Instead of sliding on a ring or two, Rodarte and Fyodor Golan offered an alternative way to accessorize your fingers. Both rimmed the cuticle area with a shimmery or striking shade; the metallic looked like a tiny gilded chain, the blue read more like a statement necklace.
Abstract Art
You don’t have to be Picasso to master this trend. Just grab some of your favorite polish shades and have at it. At Proenza Schouler, it was all about randomly freehanded squiggles. Manicurists at Tanya Taylor and Carmen Marc Valvo, on the other hand, created colorful arcs. Then, we saw Miami-inspired lines at Christian Siriano.
Electric Orange
This vibrant shade isn’t just for your lips this spring, we’re also loving it for tips. Just look at it at Tibi and Blugirl. We don’t blame you if you want to do both at the same time.
